First time for everything

Sometimes, when you do something the first time it goes exceptionally well.

Like the first time you take your baby to church (which she was a perfect angel)

Other times, the first time you do something it is delicious.
Like the first time you take that baby out to eat, and it’s at Jason’s Deli with her great grandparents.

Sometimes that first time is dark and windy.
Like the first time you take your baby on a 2+ mile walk to watch fireworks from the missionary field on the Fourth of July. (Yes I’m aware there’s a burp cloth on my baby’s head. Like I said, it was gusty and I was afraid all her heat would get blown away!)

And other times, it is just like heaven.
Like when that little baby is blessed by her daddy and she wears the dress you were blessed in!

At times, the first time you do something it can make you sad (even if you know it needs to happen.)
Like the first time your baby get shots.

But, there are still other first times that are simply beautiful!
Like the first time you go on a hike as a family of three.

Some of the first times can exceed your expectations.

Like going to your first movie with a baby under 2 months old AND SHE SLEEPS THROUGH THE WHOLE THING (and did you really expect us to wait until the last Harry Potter movie came out on video?!?)
And sometimes, the first time you do something you look cool.
Like when your dad puts shades on you.
Other first times you just have to get creative.
Like when you are changing a baby’s diaper after she spits up all over you and the seat of the car on a 20+ hour car ride.

And lastly, some first times are the beginning of a new life.
Like the first day your husband goes to grad school in a city neither of you have ever lived in.
BRING ON THE FIRST TIMES!

(Side note, does this flow like a children's story? I thought I could add this post of "First Times" to our collection of "Harry by the Sea" and "Caps for Sale." Just a thought.)

  2. Yay! What I have been waiting for! Loved the dating and proposal review! Avery is sooo cute! How beautiful did she look in your blessing dress? And yes- the "firsts" post is very much like a children's story- you should check out those companies that print books- like shutterfly.com or Picaboo.com occasionally I have gotten the printing of a book for free if I just pay the tax and shipping! I am so glad you have your darling Avery- can't wait to meet her! And WELCOME to the MIDWEST!
